How to Install Swype Keyboard on iPhone and iPad

Swype is just not a perk confined to Android. iPhone and iPad users are now able to enjoy Swype on their touch devices. As most of you will be guessing what Swype is. Swype is a typing utility that allows you to type rapidly, letting you skip tapping and running through the keys in a one go, without the need to tap each key one by one. Swype basically predicts the word on the route you take for your finger swipe through its patented sliding and recognition system, but can be wrong at times too, but accuracy overall has been improved a lot in the latest version.

Unfortunately, Swype, though the name may be big, is not available officially via App Store. Like other iOS hack, Swype is coming through the ModMyi repository on Cydia and thus, you need to have your device jailbroken for it to work.

How to Install Swype using Cydia

So how you install Swype on your iOS device? Getting Swype installed on your iPhone or iPad is pretty easy.

1. Launch Cydia and navigate to “Sources”.
2. Add the source http://wynd.x10.mx/repo and wait for it to get the packages.
3. Search for iSwipe and install it.

1. You get Swype on your Device as soon as the installation completes. Just launch Notes to have a quick test.

Note that the current beta version is only compatible with Apple’s stock firmware apps, text messaging, mail for instance and not the App Store/Cydia apps, but the next update is supposed to make it work with a broader app pool, while iOS developer, Andrew Liu (@WyndWarrior) is working on Swype’s next release.
