Latest : Tata Docomo launches New Unlimited Local, STD, SMS, Data & Roaming 1299 Plan

Tata Docomo GSM has launched a new Unlimited Plan to take on Reliance recently launched Truly Unlimited Plans. Tata Docomo’s Unlimited Plan offer Unlimited Local Call, STD Calls, Local & National SMS, Data (GPRS/Internet) and Roaming Calls as well. Launched at a price point of Rs. 1299, it is no doubt a better option as compared to Reliance as not only Tata has better network but it is also charging less for a similar plan.

Tata Docomo Unlimited 1299 Plan offers All Local and STD Calls Free along with 6000 Local & National SMS (200/Day as per TRAI Limit), Unlimited 2G Data (in 3G Circles, one would get 3G Speeds up to 2G, thereafter 2G speeds @ 128Kbps) and All Incoming and Outgoing Calls in Roaming Free (On Tata Docomo Network only). SMS on Roaming would be charged at Standard Rates only.
In case you are thinking of a hidden Fair Usage Policy, we must tell you that we have just now confirmed with the customer care and they have told us that Unlimited means Unlimited i.e. there is no FUP.

Few months ago Tata Docomo launched another Unlimited Plan 899 that offers just Calls Free, both Local & National. SMS, Data and Roaming Calls are chargeable at standard rates under the plan. You can get more details on this page.
Reliance too offers similar plans under the Truly Unlimited Package. Tata Docomo’s Unlimited 1299 Plan is similar to what Reliance offers in Rs. 1499 Unlimited Plan, the basic difference between the Reliance and Tata Plan is that Reliance offers 5GB Data and there is a FUP of 6000 minutes under the plan where as Tata Docomo offers 2GB Data without any FUP on Calling.

Conclusion

If i have to choose between the 2, i would definitely go with the Tata Docomo’s Unlimited 1299 Plan because as far as i have personally experienced Tata Docomo has better network coverage and better Internet speeds (2GB at 3G in more than enough for a moderate user like me).
Estimated Monthly Bill would come for Rs. 1460 inclusive of all taxes. Also there are certain terms and conditions associated with this plan that you must read on this page before getting this plan.
Tata Docomo have created a special Internet APN to be used with this plan, INTERNETHVC. Any data usage on any other APN would be charged at normal rates. Any new and existing customer who wish to take this plan is required to pay Rs. 850 as Security Deposit.

Idea Unlimited 1299 Plan

Second in line is the Unlimited 1299 Plan that offers the same benefits as Unlimited 899 Plan along with 5GB 3G Data. As the name only suggest, it monthly rental has been fixed at Rs. 1299 (plus taxes).

The last Unlimited Plan launched by Idea is the Unlimited 1599 Plan that comes with a monthly rental of Rs. 1599 and offers 10000 Local, STD & Roaming Mobile Mins, 8 GB 3G Data (overage 3p/10kb) and 1000 Local & National SMS.

Here are the details of all the Unlimited Plans in a tabular format:

Particulars	Idea Plan 899	Idea Plan 1299	Idea Plan 1599
Monthly Rental	Rs. 899	Rs. 1299	Rs. 1599
Monthly Discounts	4000 Local + STD + 1000 Roaming Mobile Mins	4000 Local + STD + 1000 Roaming Mobile Mins	10000 Local + STD + Roaming Mobile Mins
		5 GB of 3G Data (Overage 3p/10kb)	8 GB 3G Data (overage 3p/10kb)
450 Local + National SMS	450 Local + National SMS	1000 local + National SMS

SMS
Local	0.30	0.30	0.50
National	0.40	0.40	0.50
ISD	5.00	5.00	5.00

Comparison with Reliance and Tata DOCOMO Unlimited Plans:
If you compare the Idea Unlimited 899 with the same priced Unlimited 899 Plan from Tata DOCOMO, you will find that apart from the same calling benefits without FUP (in Tata), you will get 450 Local & National SMS Free also. Comparing the same with Reliance Unlimited 899 plan you would find no other difference apart from enhanced FUP in Reliance TRULY Unlimited 899 Plan (6000 mins).

Similarly in Unlimited 1299 Plan Tata DOCOMO is offering 6000 Local & National SMS, 2G 3G Data and Unlimited therafter at 2G Speeds and All Local & STD Calls without any Fair Usage Policy. On the other hand, Reliance is offering 6000 Local & National SMS, 5GB 2G Data and 6000 Min FUP.

As you can now see it is really very difficult to compare these plans but what i think is that Idea has definitely better coverage than Reliance and Tata DOCOMO, so it has an edge over the other two. But personally i feel that Tata DOCOMO GSM 1299 Unlimited Plan is the best since it is not having any Fair Usage Policy.

Connect Internet without Dashboard 3G Huawei Modem

Link your computer to online without dash panel application it show you full details of data rate and used obtain this application.

codeproject.com/Articles/120638/3G-Modem-Internet-Dialer

Introduction

A wireless 3G modem is a type of modem which connects to a cellular network instead of to the land line telephone system. It allows you to get broadband internet access anywhere you can get a cell-phone signal. Many cellular phones these days have 3G modems built into them.

There have been a lot of great articles that guide you how to write an internet dialer for regular modem (and most of them work for 3G modems too) but some information is missing, for example, signal strength, connection mode (GSM, GPRS, EDEG, HSDPA, etc.) and other information which is wireless modem related.

  Background       GET FROM HERE

All work and testing was on a Huawei modem, but things shouldn't change much with other modems. Before we get started, you need to successfully install the modem, and you should notice after installing the modem that it usually adds three ports: one for the modem and the other two for application interface. In my case with a Huawei modem, you should see the following in the device manger:

Under Modem
HUAWEI Mobile Connect - 3G Modem
Under Ports
HUAWEI Mobile Connect - 3G Application Interface (COM #)
HUAWEI Mobile Connect - 3G PC UI Interface (COM #)

We are only interested in two ports: the "Huawei Connect - 3G Modem" port which is the modem port where normal connecting and disconnecting commands should be invoked (RAS should do this for us), and the "HUAWEI Mobile Connect - 3G PC UI Interface" port that the modem uses for sending events like signal quality, signal mode, etc.

Step 1: Download first the Huawei-Modem-Unlockerv5.8.1

Step 2: Insert/connect your Globe Tattoo stick with any sim card (other than Globe) to your lappy or computer. Dashboard* will appear on the screen (pic below). Notice that on the lower left of mydashboard, i have no smart signal or  smart site bar. Click "Ok" and "x" on the upper right corner of the dashboard to close it.

*my dashboard maybe looks different to you guys 'coz i upgraded it to replace Globe Tattoodashboard =)

Step 3: Now, open Huawei Modem Unlocker . It should detect your modem/tattoo stick automatically. If not, then choose "Auto Connection" on the connection mode. Close the huawei modem unlocker & open it again.

Step 4: Once your modem/tatto0 stick has now been detected, click the "Calculate" button to read the nck & flash code.

Step 5: Check the "Auto-Unlock MOdem" on the direct modem reader/unlocker & click the "UNLOCK" button.

Step 6: On the RESULT-Modem Status (see pic below), when it says "SIM in Modem is accepted. Unlocked" means you have successfully unlocked your modem/tattoo stick and you can now connect to the sim card network you used.

Step 7: Close the Huawei Modem Unlocker & click or open the Globe Tattoo icon to display thedashboard again. As you can see (pic below), i have now smart signal or smart site bar on the lower left of my dashboard.

Step 8: Now, configure your smart settings to connect (go to tools > options > profile management > & click the "new" button).

Step 9: Click connect & you are now DONE!

#This Huawei Modem Unlocker will unlock your modem/tattoo stick temporarily & will relock after you unplug it from your lappy/computer.
